Albert "Bert" G. Clishe, age 88 of Skanee passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital. He was born September 23, 1915 in Silver (Alston) City, Michigan son of the late George N. and Margaret (Grant) Cliche. Bert grew up in the Alston area and graduated from Calumet High School in 1934. He married the former Maxine McCandless on April 30, 1941 in L'Anse. They moved into the house they built on Roland Lake in the spring of 1948. Bert worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for many years, and for Leo Erickson, then for the Celotex Corporation from 1960 until retiring in 1978. He served on the Baraga County Memorial Hospital board for many years. Bert enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing until his health limited these activities, and was an avid pinochle player. Survived are his wife Maxine at Westside in L'Anse; sons Allen (Barbara) Clishe of Skanee, Daniel (Alice) Clishe of Skanee, and Gerald (Michelle) Clishe of Traverse City, MI; one sister Mary Lindemann of L'Anse; eight grandchildren, Gayle (Travis) Lindenberg, Joel (Jami) Clishe, Danielle (Jeremy) Lias, and Jamie Clishe, Curtis, Aaron, Bryan, Nathan Clishe; and three great grandchildren, Felicity, Brittney, and Toby Lias. Preceded him in death are his brother, Grant F. Clishe; sisters Helen V. Walmer, and Ramona M. Michaels; grandson Joseph Clishe; granddaughters Ashley and Nichole Clishe. Visitation will be held on Thursday July 1 from 6-8 pm at the Jacobson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be private to the family on Friday. Pastor Judy Mattson will officiate.
