Alvina J. Soli, age 87 of Manistique and formerly of L'Anse, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2002 at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique.
She was born November 24, 1914 in Clayton, WI daughter of the late Alvin and Alma (Johnson) Gullickson. Alvina married Gust V. Soli on April 30, 1938 in Ironwood, MI. They resided in L'Anse for 50 years. She worked as a motor route mail career in the L'Anse area, for Soli Forest Products with her husband, and at Baraga County Memorial Hospital as a nurses aide. Alvina moved to Manistique in 1998 to live with her daughter.
Alvina was a member of the United Lutheran Church in L'Anse and WECLA, the Zion Lutheran Church in Manistique, SARAH circle and the Lutheran Quilters. She was also a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star Maplewood Chapter 511. Alvina enjoyed being with her family and friends, and loved to play cards.
She is survived by her two daughters, Vicki (Tom) Schwartz of Eden Prairie, MN, Judi (Bob) Sands of Manistique, MI, three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Alvina is preceded in death by her husband Gust on July 15, 1998, a brother Ken Gullickson, two sisters, Lorraine Youngs and Delphia Wyszinski.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 12, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church in L'Anse. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Rev. Margaret Grant will officiate. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
