Anna Celestine Owen, 86, of Pequaming, Michigan, died Tuesday morning, August 16, 2005 at her home.
She was born December 26, 1918, in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of the late John and Margaret (Early) Marx. Anna was a graduate of St. James High School in Ferndale, Michigan.
Anna worked for several years as a waitress in various restaurants and was last employed with the Beaumont Hospital as a supervisor in the Doctor's dining room.
She moved to Pequaming in 1997 and had resided there since. Anna was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Scripture Group, the church's ladies auxiliary and rosary group, and the Aura Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna (Howard) Soli of Pequaming; 6 grandchildren, David (Sue) Danaher, Daniel (Tami) Danaher, Darcy (John) Mullett, Dennis (Melissa) Danaher, Donald (Kathy) Danaher and Darin (Debbie) Danaher; 5 step-grandchildren, Susan (David) Swoish, Howard (Heidi) Soli, Laura Soli, Phillip Soli and Paul Soli; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, John (Renelda) Marx of East Lansing, MI, Joseph (Norman) Marx of Farmington, MI, Edward (Jean) Marx of Oak Park, MI and William (Evelyn) Marx of Royal Oak, MI; 2 sisters, Sr. Sylvia Marx of Kalamazoo, MI and Gertrude Schulte of Detroit, MI, and a sister-in-law Jean Marx of Clawson, MI. She is preceded in death by sisters, Sr. Mary Catherine Marx and Sylvia Marvel, and a brother Robert Marx.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2005 from 6 to 8 pm at the Jacobson Funeral Home. A Rosary service will be held at 7:30 pm in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 am in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Rev. Augustine officiating. Visitation will also be held on Sunday, August 21, 2005 from 1 to 4 pm in the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home in Berkley, Michigan. A funeral mass will also be celebrated on Monday, August 22 at 10 am in the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Oak Park, Michigan with Fr. Paul Chateau. Interment will be in the Pequaming Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer Mass cards.
