Anne Martinac Steinbach

November 14, 1905 — March 2, 2004

Anne Steinbach, age 98 of L'Anse passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at Bayside Village in L'Anse.

She was born November 14, 1905 in Calumet, daughter to the late Peter and Katherine (Sachen) Martinac. Anne graduated from Calumet High School and then attended Laurium Commercial School. She married Robert Steinbach on October 17, 1942 in L'Anse. She lived in Calumet until 1917, and then lived in L'Anse from 1917 until 1948 when she moved to Milwaukee and lived there until 1982 when she returned to L'Anse. Anne was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and Baraga Land Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by her daughter Roberta (Claude) Cybulski of Lake Elmo, MN; three grandchildren, Eric (Sandi), Adam, and Paul; a sister Clara Sterk of Las Vegas, NV.

Preceding Anne in death are her husband Robert; sisters and brothers, Katherine Lucas, Mary Webb, John, Frank, Joe and Urban Zagar, Pete Martinac, and Al Martinac.

The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, March 13, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Fr. Greg Heikkala will officiate. Burial will take place in the spring in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
