Arnold Edwin Juntunen

Arnold E. Juntunen, age 90 of Baraga, MI passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
He was born May, 15, 1926 in Nisula, MI son of Arthur and Armita (Lepisto) Juntunen. Arnold graduated from Baraga High School in 1944. He then served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Alice Jolgren on September 3, 1955 in Laurium, MI.
Arnold worked in road construction across the U. P. and Northern Wisconsin for several years. He then worked for Celotex and later Mead Paper Co, retiring in 1988. He liked to putter around the house and yard. Arnold enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. He and Alice also enjoyed going to dances at the Eagles Club in South Range and listening to music.
Arnold was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, former church council member, and served on the Baraga County Road Commission, Eagles Aerie #2287, and Alston VFW Post #7646.
Surviving are his wife Alice of Baraga; son, Dale (Marie) Juntunen of Venice, FL; daughter Debbie Juntunen of South Lyon, MI; brothers, Harold Juntunen of Livonia, Norman (Jen) Juntunen of Farmington Hills; sister, Lillian (Peter) VanStraten of Pequaming, MI; brother-in-law Jim Loman of Baraga; sister-in-law Jane Juntunen of Greenland, MI; granddaughter Rebecca Juntunen of Sarasota, FL; grand puppies Maggie and Scooby.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, James and Raymond Juntunen; sisters, Jean Clisch, and Mae Loman.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 16th from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross of Lutheran Church in Baraga. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Julie Belew officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in the Pelkie Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. with Baraga County Area Veterans conducting military rites under the direction of American Legion Post 444. The Jacobson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
