Beatrice M. Sundquist

Beatrice M. Sundquist, age 80 of Baraga passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2003 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.

She was born September 5, 1922 in L'Anse daughter to the late J. Oliver and Nettie (Bye) Paquette. Beatrice graduated from L'Anse High School in 1940, then moved to the Detroit area where she was employed by the Chrysler and Square D Corporations for several years before raising a family. She married William Sundquist in 1947 in L'Anse. They returned to Baraga in 1972 after William's retirement. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 444 in Baraga. Beatrice enjoyed the casino and playing cards at the Baraga Senior Housing.

Beatrice is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Tally) Miettinen of Dale, WI; son, Walter William Sundquist of Brighton, MI; sisters, Patsy (Dennis) Lane of L'Anse, Alice (Henry) Tangen of Baraga, Virginia (Bernard) Penokie of L'Anse; brother, Roy Paquette of Merrill, WI.; several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband William in 1986 and brothers Ralph and Kenneth Paquette.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 18 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Fr. Greg Heikkala will officiate. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery. Fellowship and luncheon will follow the service in the Sharing Room at the funeral home. Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
