Bertha Joanna Torma
March 28, 1919 — August 26, 2015
Bertha Joanna Torma, age 96, of Watton, MI passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Bayside Village in L’Anse, MI.
She was born March 28, 1919 in Fort William, Ontario, Canada daughter to Isack and Emma (Mantyniemi) Torma. Bertha moved to Watton at age 5, and graduated from Kenton High School. She lived on the family farm in Watton where she farmed and was devoted to her sister Hilda. She loved animals and wildlife, taking kids for hikes in the woods, berry picking, gardening, and reading.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Paul (Wilma) Torma; sisters, Helen (William) Johnson and Hilda Torma.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Barbara Nurmi of Watton and her children Amy, Peggy, and Lisa, Lorraine (Duane) Anderson of Covington and their children Laura, Peter, and Stephen, Mary (Jeff) Gibson of Birnamwood, WI and their children Elijah, Jenny, and Brandy, Susan (Doug) Scott of Cornell, MI and their children Danny and Sarah, Sharon Manz of Milwaukee, WI and her children Bradley, Brian, and Jackie; and numerous great great nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to nieces Susan, Laura, Lisa, and Pastor Mark Reinsch who were at her side during her final days.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home in L’Anse. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Mark Reinsch will officiate. Burial will be in the Covington Cemetery.
