Betty Jane Matsen

Betty Jane Matsen, age 86 of L'Anse, MI passed away on Monday, November 1, 2010 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 6, 1924 in Racine, WI daughter to Roy and Beatrice (Bradshaw) Matsen. Betty was one of Gods special children. She never went to school because they didn't have schools for special children at that time; but she was very smart.
Betty loved to do puzzles and loved to go to work at the center and was very proud of the jobs she did and the money she earned. She always wanted to look her best. Betty was not a complainer and always said she was "fine". As a young girl Betty could swim like a fish; staying under water longer than any of her siblings.
She was loved and will be missed by all her family and her family at Westside. "God bless you Betty; He blessed us with your time with us."
Surviving are her sister Eva (Ken) Huhtasaari of Askel, MI and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brother Leroy Matsen; sisters, Grace Katt, Doris Shockley, Joyce (Sorvala) Suo, Mae Skrzypek, Lorie Marsy, and Beth Hetchler.
There will be no funeral service at this time. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
