Bonnie E. Byford
August 16, 1913 — June 24, 2002
Bonnie E. Byford, age 88 of Covington, passed away Monday, June 24, 2002 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital's skilled nursing unit.
She was born on August 16, 1913 in Covington daughter of the late Solomon and Sofia (Koivuniemi) Takala. Bonnie grew up in Covington and then moved to Detroit. She worked at Chrysler Corporation for a few years and then returned to Covington.
Bonnie was a member of the VFW post 8945 Auxiliary in Covington. She liked music and dancing, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Randolph (Betty) Byford of Bristol, WI, John Byford of Watton, MI; two sisters, Vienna Wimpari and Jean Hansen both of Florida; two grandchildren, Randolph Byford II of Kenosha, Jason Byford of Bristol, WI; two great grandchildren Devin and Jordan Byford of Kenosha.
She is preceded in death by two brothers, Wesley and William Takala and three sisters, Marge Takala, Aili Parkkonen, and Ruth Maki.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 27 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Covington. Visitations will be on Wednesday from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home, with the VFW Auxiliary conducting a service at 7:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Rev. Leon Linquist will officiate. Burial will be in the Covington Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
