Bonnie Faye (Knapp) Kirschner, 49, of Escanaba passed away while surrounded by family on March 23, 2017, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI, following a brief illness.
After attempting to make her debut to the world near the monkey cage at the Brookfield Zoo, Bonnie was born in Berwyn, Illinois, on March 26, 1967, the daughter of Archie “Chico” and Shirley “Jessie” (Hugo) Knapp.
A member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, Bonnie graduated from L’Anse High School in 1985. She went on to receive her Bachelor Degree as a dual major in Construction Technology and Business Management from Northern Michigan University in 1998. Prior to receiving her degree, Bonnie was employed by Keweenaw Bay Indian Community and (Chip-In) Island Resort & Casino. After completing her education, she worked for Wendricks Truss and Hannahville Housing. Bonnie had a passion for DIY home projects, boating, crafting, genealogy, exploring performing arts and was a dedicated Carolina Panthers fan.
Bonnie F. Kirschner was survived by her sisters, Sharon McDaniel (Robert Meshigaud) of Wilson, Jeanne (Ken) Meshigaud of Wilson, Jennie “Kit-Kat” Knapp of Harris; brother, John “Chip” Knapp; three furbabies, Annie, Della, and Mocha; brother-in-law, Stan Spruce of Zeba; nephews, Aaron Meshigaud of Wilson and Sean Spruce of Zeba; niece, Rachel Meshigaud of Escanaba; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Pauline Knapp-Spruce; and
furbaby, Suzzie.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the KBIC Zeba Hall in Zeba, MI. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service begins at 1:00 p.m. A luncheon at Zeba Hall will follow.
