Brenda Sue Tovey, age 47 of Baraga, MI passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
Brenda was born May 7, 1964 in Mason, MI daughter to Lawrence and Wilda (Sheele) Niswonger. She graduated from Gladwin-Rose City High School in 1982. Brenda worked as a supervisor for Wolverine Worldwide in Rockford, MI for 14 years. Then she moved to Baraga were she married Kenneth Tovey on October 16, 1999. They owned and operated the Side Track Bar in Baraga.
She attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Baraga. Brenda loved camping and fishing.
Surviving are her husband Ken Tovey of Baraga; son Bruce Tovey of Baraga; brother Jim (Joyce) Niswonger of St. John's, MI; sisters, Bonnie (Donny) Miles of Coral, MI, Harriet Niswonger of Lansing, MI, Betty Niswonger of Luther, MI; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding her in death are her parents; newborn son John James Tovey; and a sister Pearl Nesky.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 28th from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Judy Mattson officiating. Following the service a luncheon and fellowship will follow at the Side Track Bar in Baraga. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
