Brian Lee Rock, 41, formerly of Baraga, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Jackson, Michigan, following a brief illness on Saturday, April 30, 2005.

Brian was born on April 12, 1964 to John and Lorraine (Kemppainen) Rock. He attended Baraga High School and graduated in 1982. Upon graduation he joined the Army and spent time in North Carolina and Germany. He also lived in Boston and most recently, Jackson, MI for the past 8 years.

Brian's dream was to someday own his own restaurant and so his "work" was cooking at various restaurants throughout the years, where his positive and up-beat attitude was always a comment of co-workers.

Brian had a gentle, forgiving spirit and warm sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his 3 children, Ryan, Derek and Andrea (Annie); his partner and best friend, Paula Adkins and her son, Charles of Jackson, MI; mother, Lorraine Rock, of Baraga; 3 sisters, Diane Rock of California, Karen Birch of Negaunee and Debbie Rock of Jackson, MI; 2 brothers, Randy of Baraga and Larry of Massachusetts; 5 nephews, 3 nieces and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. His father, John Rock preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 6, 2005 at 6 p.m. in St. Ann's Catholic Church with Rev. George Maki officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of the mass in the church. Interment will be in the Baraga Cemetery on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Brian's nephews, Paul Mayo, David Mayo and Eric Keranen and friends, Tim Raymond, Jeff Lamson and Matt Friisvall will serve as pallbearers.
