Calvin Claude Chagnon, age 71 of Baraga, MI passed away on Tuesday, October 7th, 2014 at his home.
He was born January 22nd, 1943 in L'Anse, MI son to Edward and Gladys (Lucia) Chagnon. Calvin attended school in Baraga. He married Barbara Lorenz in 1970. Calvin worked 36 years for Celotex Corp, retiring in 2004.He served in the National Guard for seven years.
Surviving are his children, Callie (Jim) LaChance of L'Anse, Calvin Chagnon Jr. of L'Anse, Ron (Roberta) Chagnon of L'Anse, John Chagnon of Baraga; stepsons, Edward Schjoth of L'Anse, Jamie Schjoth of Tempe, AZ; and 13 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Barbara; and brother Roger Chagnon.
Visitation was on Thursday, Oct. 9th from 5-7 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. Parish prayers and rosary were recited at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass was held on Friday, Oct. 10th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Church in Baraga with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. Burial is be in the Baraga Cemetery. A luncheon and fellowship followed in the church hall. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
