Carl Norman Holappa

Carl Norman Holappa, age 77 of Baraga, MI passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at his home.
He was born August 19, 1932 in Elo, MI son of the late Charles and Mayme (Hill) Holappa. Carl grew up and attended school in Elo. He was in to the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Barbara Loonsfoot in 1967 in Lake Orion, MI. They lived in Ferndale where he worked for the City of Ferndale for several years. In 1992 they moved to Kincheloe, MI until 1995 when they moved to Baraga.
Carl enjoyed bowling in Leagues and fishing.
Surviving are his son Guy (Karyn) Holappa of Hamilton, Mass., Sue (Lewis) Mack of Baraga, Lynn Holappa of Brattleboro, Vermont; grandchildren Keaton and Rachael Holappa, Guy and Samantha O'Donnell; and a nephew Dennis Johnson of Kincheloe, MI.
Preceding him in death are his parents, wife Barbara; sisters Jewel Johnson and Gloria Holappa.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 14th at 1:00 pm at the Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pastor Arnold Pesola will officiate. Burial will be in the Elo Cemetery. The Baraga County Area Veterans will conduct military rites at the graveside under the direction of the American Legion Post 444. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
