Carl J. Liimatainen

Carl J. Liimatainen, age 51 of Hubbell, MI passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at U.P. Health System Marquette from Covid-19.

He was born March 2, 1970, in Hancock, MI, son of Rod and Jane (Lundquist) Liimatainen. Carl graduated from Chassell High School in 1988, and studied criminal justice at NMU. He also studied and worked building log homes. At Gogebic Community College he received an Associate degree in nursing and worked as an RN at Portage Hospital.

Carl was a man of strong Christian faith. He enjoyed reading, camping, kayaking, and was an outstanding cook, the grill-master of family events at Second Sand Beach. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Maddy. He loved taking her to the park and pushing her on swings.

Surviving are his sons, Stefan of Hubbell, Ryan of Hancock, daughter Nicole of Calumet; granddaughter Madelyn; parents Rod and Jane of Chassell; brothers, Jon (Amanda) of Holly Springs, NC, Joel of Marquette; nephews and niece Davin, Vaughn, Aidan, and Rose as well as friends and cousins Alan (Rebecca) Osterberg of Iron Mountain and Benjamin (Pamela) Osterberg of Green Bay.

Internment will be at the Aura Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held later in the summer for family and friends. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
