Carolyn Fay Brinkman, age 80, of Aura, MI passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at her home.
She was born August 19, 1935 in Detroit, MI, daughter to Hugh and Clara (Bissell) Otterbein. Carolyn graduated from Dearborn High School in 1954. On December 24, 1980 she married Alvin Brinkman in Livonia, MI. Carolyn drove bus for Livonia Schools until moving to Aura in 1989, then she drove bus for L’Anse Schools. She also managed the Henry Ford Bungalow for 18 years.
Carolyn was a member of Zion and Aura Lutheran Churches, Order of the Eastern Star, Aura Township board, Hospital Auxiliary, and Fire Hall Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and loved meeting new people, especially at the Bungalow.
Surviving are her son David Bailey of Aura; step-son Michael Roger Brinkman of Columbus, MI; grandchildren Chelsea (Ryan) Cameron of Alexander, AK, Andrew Bailey of Livonia; and great grandchild Carter Cameron.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Alvin.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 23rd at 12 noon at the Aura Lutheran Church with Rev. Judy Mattson officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow the service at the Aura Fire Hall. Burial will be in the spring in the Forest Hill Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
