Charles Thomas Hebert, age 82 of L'Anse, MI passed away on Tuesday, May 08, 2012 at his home.
He was born on March 26, 1930 in Baraga, MI son to Thomas and Exilida (Auge) Hebert. Charles graduated from Baraga High School. In 1950 he went into the US Army and was in the Korean Conflict. Charles married Gladys Cayanus and they resided in Chassell, MI where he owned and operated the Greenlight Bar in Chassell for 20 years. They then moved to South Range and he was the manager of the VFW post for several years. In 2007 Charles moved to L'Anse to live with his son and daughter-in-law.
Charles loved to read, dance, and entertain. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and several veterans' organizations including American Legion and VFW posts.
Surviving are his son John (Greta) Hebert of L'Anse; seven grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
Preceded him in death are his parents; his wife Gladys; son Charles Thomas Hebert II; daughter Judy Ann Snell; sisters, Verna, Louella, Katherine; brothers, Bart, Lloyd, and Lowell.
In memory of Charles, a time of fellowship will be held on Friday, May11th from 3-7 p.m. at the American Legion Post 144 in L'Anse. The Baraga County Area Veterans will conduct military rites at 4:00 p.m. at the America Legion Post in L'Anse under the direction of the American Legion Post 444.
