Charles Joseph Maki, age 44 of Amasa, MI passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016 as a result of an accident in L’Anse, MI. He was born May 25, 1972 in New London, WI son of Michael and Lois (Cadotte) Maki. He graduated from West Iron County High School. Charlie worked as an auto technician at McKay’s Chevrolet in Iron River and then went to work out in Seattle, WA and Sitka Alaska and several other odd jobs. He was always the 1st one there when a friend needed a hand. He resided in Amasa and enjoyed camping in the L’Anse area. He was born with a wrench in his hand and loved cars. Charlie enjoyed hunting, fishing, being on the water and the outdoors. He always had a smile on his face that could light up a room and made everyone around him happy. Charlie had a love for life. He had friends everywhere he went and he was loved deeply by all who knew him. Surviving are his parents Michael and Lois Maki of Iron River; children, Charles Julius Ero Maki and Hanna Lee Skogland; brothers, Michael (Linda) Maki Jr. and Shawn Maki both of Caspian, MI; sisters, Tara Maki of Iron River, Wendy (Wesley Takala) Maki of Crystal Falls; special nephew and nieces, Kameron & Kaitlyn, and Daisy; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dog Ben. Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Julius and Daisy Maki and Fred and Elizabeth Cadotte; numerous aunts and uncles; beloved dog Sandy.
