Darlene Ida (Norback) Morin

Darlene Ida Morin, age 72 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at U P Health System in Marquette, MI. She was born August 30, 1943 in Sidnaw, MI at the McCorry’s House, daughter to Swande and Elizabeth (Provost) Norback. Darlene attended school in Sidnaw through 8th grade and then went to school in Ewen through 10th grade and graduated from L’Anse High School in 1961. She married Hubert Melvin Morin in January of 1962. Darlene began working at the L’Anse Sentinel writing articles and taking notes. Hubert and Darlene lived briefly in Detroit before returning to the area. She worked at the Baragaland Senior Citizens cleaning & caring for people; and later for the State of Michigan as an Assistance Payments Worker for the Department of Social Services (DSS) in Ontonagon and then the L’Anse office. She retired in 1991 due to her disability. Darlene was a Life Member of the Covington VFW Post #8945 Ladies Auxiliary. Darlene had a big heart and always had kind words to say about people. She enjoyed her job at the Ontonagon and L’Anse FIA Offices. She enjoyed sipping coffee at the kitchen table or on her deck. She loved company and socializing with friends, playing bingo and going to the casino. Darlene will be remembered for her smile, her gentle ways and friendships. Gatherings for birthdays and holidays were always a highlight. Surviving are her children, Barbara “Punkin” Bryan of Crystal Falls, Cheryl “Sissy” Morin of L’Anse, Roger “Scott” Morin of L’Anse, Marianne (Richard) Wickstrom of L’Anse; siblings, Nestor (Naomi) Norback of McGrath, AK, Swande Norback Jr. of Anchorage, AK, Dolly Norback of McGrath, AK, Duane Norback of McGrath, AK, Elsie Norback of Anchorage, AK, Kurt (Sonia) Mann of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; grandchildren, Shaun (Ashley), Shane & Shad Bryan, Jessica and Kolt Wickstrom; great grandchildren, Damian & Dante Bryan, Taylianna Bryan; special Aunt Evelyn Beauprey and cousin Joey Beauprey both of L’Anse; Uncle JoJo (Kathy) Provost of Sidnaw. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Hubert; infant daughter Tarianne Marie Morin; grandchildren Jacob and Katie Wickstrom. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 22nd from 11-1:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. Burial will be in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the burial in the fellowship hall at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. The Jacobson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
