David E. Firestone, age 78 of Baraga, MI passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021 at his home on Beartown Road.
He was born May 5, 1943 in Muskegon, MI son of Earl and Doris (Picard) Firestone. David worked as a chef in various restaurants downstate Michigan and in Florida. He worked for the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community for 14 years, most recently as the Director of the Ojibwa Senior Center, retiring in 2015. Dave enjoyed playing music with the band, especially playing his harmonica. He made a great Elvis and was always happy to do so. He often treated the neighborhood kids taking them to different restaurants. He enjoyed playing cribbage, watching football, baseball, golf and visiting with his friends.
Dave was a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community and the Ojibwa Senior Citizens. He was the self-proclaimed Mayor of Beartown and was always working hard to keep it clean.
He is survived by one sister, Eusaline “Essy” Kettring, a nephew, Kevin (Brenda) Kettring and a niece, Cathy Kettring, all from Whitehall, MI, his good friends, Howard Kimewon, Ted Shalifoe, Joe Kirkish, Jojoe Linemann and Tim Lindemann.
A burial service will be held in the future. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
