Denise Irene Gates, age 53 of Rose City, MI passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at her brother’s home.
She was born July 12, 1963 in Detroit, MI daughter to Leonard and Irene (Zabrzycki) Gates. Denise graduated in 1982 from Charles S. Mott High School in Warren, MI, then attended Macomb Community College. She lived most of her life in Rose City, MI, in November she moved to the U. P. to live with her brother.
Denise was an award-winning artist; she loved to paint on canvas, especially outdoor scenery. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and loved the outdoors.
She is survived by a son Jeffery Gates of Lupton, MI; brothers, William (Holly) Gates of Athens, TN, Daniel Gates of Pelkie, MI; sister Paula (Steve) Siemen of Battle Creek, MI; grandchildren, Lenny and Jeffery.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brothers, Michael Gates and Leonard Gates Jr.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, May 6th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Micheal's Catholic Church in Sterling Heights, MI. The family will greet friends from 9 o'clock until the time of service.. Burial will then take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Sterling Heights, MI. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L’Anse is assisting the family.
