Donald A. Anderson, age 73 of Pelkie passed away on Friday, July 19, 2002 at his home with his family at his side.
He was born February 7, 1929 in Calumet, MI son of George and Prudence (Turner) Anderson. Don grew up in Lake Linden and graduated from Lake Linden High School in 1948. He married the former Barbara Kunick December 18, 1950 in Hancock. He went in the US Army from 1951-53 during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Las Vegas and San Francisco. They lived in Kingsford where he worked for Michigan Dept. Of Transportation as an inspector for 31 years, retiring at the age of 55. Then they moved to Pelkie where they resided for the past 19 years.
He is a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 444 in Baraga. Don liked to tell jokes, hunt, fish, loved his family. He was a good cook and liked to work on cars, lawn mowers and mechanical work.
Don is survived by his wife Barbara of 51 years; three sons, Dennis (Julaine) Anderson of Kingsford, Steve and Scott Anderson both of Pelkie; two daughters, Cheri Sanicki of Baraga, Lori (Tom Kujala) Bal of Kingsford; daughter-in-law Renee Anderson Nix of Niagara; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three brothers, George (Charlene) Anderson of Dumas, MS, twin brother Ken (Connie) Anderson of New Buffalo, MI, Bob (Pam) Anderson of Pompano Beach, FL, sister-in-law Barbara Anderson of Lake Linden, MI; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a son Donald Michael Anderson.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pastor Judy Mattson will officiate. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
