Dora O. Mili

July 21, 1900 — August 25, 2002

Dora O. Mili, age 102 formerly of Baraga passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2002 at Bayside Village in L'Anse.

She was born July 21, 1900 in Baraga, MI daughter to the late Henry and Olevina (Foucault) Ross. Dora graduated from Baraga High School. She married William Mili on September 12, 1922 at Most Holy Name of Jesus Mission Church in Assinins. They owned and operated Bill's Tavern in Alston until 1947. Then they moved to Detroit for ten years, then returning to Baraga. Dora taught school for three years and was the Village Treasurer for two terms.

Dora was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and St. Ann's Alter Society. She enjoyed crocheting, painting and liked flowers.

Dora is survived by her son William (Patricia) Mili of L'Anse; two sisters, Myrtle Maloney and Phyllis Olson both of Baraga; grandson Thomas Mili of L'Anse; two great grandchildren, Patricia Mili of Marquette, Michele (Dan) Kowalski of Houghton; numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband William in 1983; grandson David Mili; sisters, Evelyn Payne, Flora Harter, Ruby Vaughn; brother Francis Ross.

The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Baraga. Visitations will be on Wednesday from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home with parish prayers recited at 7:30 p.m., and Thursday an hour prior to the service at the church. Fr. George Joseph will officiate. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
