Dorothy Mae (Tuttle) Loman

Dorothy Mae Loman, age 94 of Skanee, MI passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Bayside Village in L'Anse, MI.

Dorothy was born July 3, 1927 in L'Anse, the daughter of George and Mamie (Rohlin) Tuttle. She graduated from L'Anse High School in 1945. Dorothy married Clyde Loman in September of 1946. She and Clyde moved to Roseville in 1956 to raise their children while continuing to summer in Skanee. While in Roseville, Dorothy taught adult education classes in sewing. In 1976 she and Clyde moved back to Skanee, eventually becoming snowbirds and spending winters in North Fort Myers, Florida.

Among many talents, Dorothy was an accomplished seamstress, making several wedding gowns for family and heirloom quilts. Her additional artistic expertise extended to painting, drawing and award-winning birds that she and her husband, Clyde, carved and painted. Music was also a love of hers and she enjoyed playing the organ and singing. Dorothy was very proud of her family and her Swedish ancestry. Even later in life she continuously corresponded with friends and family across the globe with her handmade cards. Dorothy loved being surrounded by her family and friends, especially in her beloved Skanee. She held the title of Great Grandmother in high regard, with the nickname, G.G.

Dorothy was a member of L'Anse United Methodist Church, Yooper Girls Red Hats and FiFi in Skanee.

Surviving are her children James (Myla Horrocks) Loman of Aura, Jerry (Nancy) Loman of Kalkaska, MI, John (D'Anne) Loman of Oostburg, WI, Jan (Tom) Gersabeck of Golden, CO, Judy (Joe) Rudolf of Spread Eagle, WI, Jay (Renae) Loman of Skanee, daughter-in-law Carol Loman of Punta Gorda, FL, grandchildren Laurie, Marta, Jaeson, Jeriann, Jaron, Jeremy, Colin, Alana, TJ, Sylvia, Steven, Michelle, and Jay, great grandchildren, Ava, Adyson, Eilidh, Lauren, Janelle, Jimmy, Destiney, Jaela, Layelle, Jax, Jaronson, Dustin, Lincoln, Riley, and Johnny, great great grandchildren Noah, Mason, Olivia and Mila, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Clyde Loman, son Clyde George Loman, daughter-in-law Jae Lynne Loman, sister Marie Baker, brother Frank Tuttle and her companion Dwight Prosser.

A family celebration of Dorothy's life will be held this summer. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.

She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and for many years made annual donations to Shriners for patient transportation to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
