Dorothy E. Samardjic, 81, of L'Anse, died peacefully, Friday afternoon, July 1, 2005, at her home.
She was born April 10, 1924, in Detroit, MI, a daughter of the late Raymond and Ida (Fletcher) Pfoertner.
After many years of living in Detroit, Dorothy moved to L'Anse in 1980 and married George Samardjic. He preceded her in death in 1997.
Dorothy was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and generously gave her time for communion calls, the craft angels, altar society, the ecumenical quilters group at United Lutheran Church, Sacred Heart School and often visited the nursing home. Dorothy will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by a sister and best friend, Ruth Scott of Detroit; 12 nieces and nephews; special friends, Jim Bianco, Pat Fuller, Jean Brinkman and their families; special "grandchildren", Melissa, Jennifer, Savannah, Isaac and Genevieve. Her brother, Raymond and sisters, Helen Roberts and Eileen Palmer preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 12 noon in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Augustine officiating. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the mass. Interment will be in L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Sacred Heart School.
