Dwight M. Prosser, 86, of Skanee, died Thursday evening, September 8, 2005, in the Hospice Unit at Marquette General Hospital.

He was born October 20, 1918, in Lexington, Ohio, a son of the late Glenn R. and Eula C. (Flowers) Prosser. Dwight married the former Matilda Lasky in Lorain, Ohio in 1942 and she preceded him in death in 1981.

He was a WWII veteran having served proudly in a field artillery company in the Phillipines. Following the war he worked as a sales representative for a sash balance company for several years. Dwight then began his own company, Peerless Balance Co. later named Linwood Manufacturing, in Mansfield, Ohio, where he designed and manufactured his own sash balances until his retirement 30 years later.

For the past 15 years, Dwight has maintained residences in Skanee and N. Ft. Myers, Florida.

He is survived by his special and loving friend, Dorothy Loman of Skanee; children, David (Jackie) Prosser of Naples, Florida and Gail (Gail Andrews) Prosser of Albuquerque, NM; Dorothy's family, Dwight's "2nd, loving family"; 4 grandchildren, Sean (Elise) Prosser of San Diego, CA, Shane (Anita) Prosser of Fort Myers, FL, David W. (Rhonda) Prosser of Naples, FL and Michael (Leslie) Prosser of Fort Myers, FL; 3 great-grandchildren, James Prosser, Katie Raile and Sierra Prosser; a sister, Dorothy (Paul) Hill of Deltona, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Isabel Armstrong.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 12, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the L'Anse United Methodist Church with Rev. John Henry officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the L'Anse United Methodist Church, UMCOR for Hurricane Katrina victims.
