Edward Lee Kvalvik

October 22, 1937 — January 24, 2020

Edward Lee "Poncho" Kvalvik, age 82 of Baraga, MI passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at U.P. Health System, Marquette, MI.

He was born October 22, 1937 in Duluth, MN son of Edward and Lillian (Elji) Kvalvik. Ed grew up on Isle Royal and moved to Knife River, MN to attend school. He was in the U.S. Navy from January 1955 until October 1958. Ed sailed on the Great Lakes on 3 different ore carriers, worked as a cook on a tug off the coast of Louisiana, and worked for Isle Royal National Park. In 1972 he moved to Alston until 2007 when he moved to Baraga. Ed was passionate about fishing, and he participated both commercially and for sport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by numerous cousins.

Visitation will take place at 1pm on Saturday, Feb. 1st at Jacobson Funeral Home.
Military rites will be conducted by the Baraga County Area Veterans at 2pm, followed by a service led by Rev. John Ansell.
Burial will be in the Sunrise Memorial Cemetery in Duluth, MN.

In lieu of flowers and monetary gifts, it has been requested that donations be made to the Baraga County Veterans organization of choice.
