Eino Salli age 87 of Watton passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2002 at his home.
He was born March 29, 1915 in Watton, son of the late Arvid and Hilda (Vattari) Salli. Eino grew up in Watton and graduated from Houghton High School in 1933. He married the former Viola Rajala on October 23, 1938 in Covington. They moved to Detroit in 1940 where he worked for the Packard Motor Co. In 1944 they moved back to Watton. Eino did woods work and also worked for Wood Development Co. in Sidnaw. He then worked for Celotex for 17 years, retiring in 1977. Eino's hobby was his work. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Eino was survived by his children; Sandra (Richard) Nachtigall of Johnson Creek, WI, Peter (Pamela) Salli of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Elizabeth (James) Cichy of Oakville, Ontario Canada Steve (Mary Jane) Salli of Covington; nine grandchildren, Daniel, David and Terry Nachtigall, Chad and Jennifer Salli, Michele Wilson, Lisa Black, Anne Marie and Matthew Salli; and nine great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Viola on June 15, 1996; brothers, Frank, Arvid and Toivo Salli; sisters, Selma Godell and Alma Nurkkala.
Memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Covington or Baraga County Home Care and Hospice.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Reinsch to officiate. Visitation will be on Monday from 6-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10-11:00 a.m. both at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Covington. Burial will be in the Covington Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
