Elizabeth Peg Chosa, age 84, a life long resident of Baraga, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2002 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 14, 1917 in Baraga, daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Heade) Madosh. Elizabeth married Clarence "Buck" Chosa in 1941. She worked at the Tribal Center and Wigwam Indian Industries for 17 years. Elizabeth enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, gardening, watching the Packers and Cubs, and loved animals. She was a member of the KBIC and the Catholic Church.
Elizabeth was a loving mother and a wonderful grandmother. She is survived by three daughters, Beverly Hellyer, Joyce Chosa, and Amy St. Arnold all of Baraga; a brother James Cote of L'Anse; a sister Harriet Geroux of Baraga; five grandchildren, Ryan St. Arnold of Albuquerque, NM, Peggy Hellyer of Dearborn Heights, MI, John Hellyer of Minneapolis, MN, Jennifer Misegan of L'Anse, Jodie Chosa of Norway; three great grandchildren, Mike Hellyer of Dearborn Heights, MI, Jacob and Deena Misegan of L'Anse; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Clarence "Buck"; sons, Michael and James "Joe" Chosa; brothers, Clifford, George, and Hubert Madosh; sister Helen Shannon.
The funeral service will be on Thursday, January 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Parish prayers will be recited at 8:00 p.m.. Fr. Greg Heikkala will officiate. Burial will be in the Assinins Cemetery in the spring. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
