Elizabeth Inez Knapp
June 29, 1909 — March 29, 2004
Elizabeth I. "Sissy" Knapp, age 94 of L'Anse passed away on Monday, March 29, 2004 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 29, 1909 in Pequaming, MI daughter of the late Jens and Nannie (Olson) Thoresen. Elizabeth was raised in Pequaming and graduated from L'Anse High School in 1929. She married Robert Knapp on March 5, 1938 in Zeba. They lived in Ann Arbor for over 30 years. In 1973 after Robert retired they moved back here. Elizabeth was a member of the Zeba United Methodist Church. She enjoyed flowers and loved being with her children and grandchildren.
Elizabeth is survived by two sons, James (Bonnie) Knapp of Clinton, MI, Gerald Knapp of Ann Arbor, MI; two daughters, Gretchen (William) Emery of L'Anse, Betty Knapp of L'Anse; three sisters, Dorothy York of Adrian, MI, Margaret Sayre of Baraga, MI, Phyllis White of Saline, MI; seven grandchildren, Tracy, Manty, Greg, Kris, Kelly, Eric, Kenny; eight great grandchildren; sister-in-law Pearl Thoresen of L'Anse; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her husband Robert on June 27, 1990; daughter Avis Knapp; brothers John, James, Harold, and Robert Thoresen; sisters Helen Wauksmith and Baby Gertrude; grandson Mark Knapp.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 1, at 1:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home, with visitation two hours prior to the service. Rev. Jim Mathews will officiate. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
