Ellen Marie Stewart

Ellen Marie Stewart, a loving and creative soul, passed away unexpectedly from heart disease on August 24, 2023, in Berkley, Michigan. Born on March 10, 1948, in Hancock, Michigan, Ellen's life was marked by her friendly nature and a deep love for her family, friends, and pets. Ellen was a dedicated professional, working as an appraiser at Alexander Hamilton Insurance Company in Farmington Hills, MI for 20 years. Her commitment to her work was evident in her meticulous attention to detail and her unwavering dedication to her clients. Outside of her professional life, Ellen had a variety of interests that showcased her creative spirit. She had a fondness for puzzles, painting, and crafts, often spending hours immersed in these activities. Her love for NASCAR was well-known among her friends and family, and she never missed a race. Ellen was also a devoted pet owner, cherishing all the dogs she had throughout her life. Ellen's love for travel was another defining aspect of her life. She enjoyed road trips to New York and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, always eager to explore new places and experiences. However, her most cherished moments were those spent visiting with her family, friends, and her beloved aunt Laila. Ellen is survived by her daughter, Jill Louis; grandchildren, Stephen (Carolyn) Povoski, the late Chris Povoski, Joshua Blencowe; granddaughter in law, Morgan Davidson; and great grandchildren, Ryan, Owen, and Grace Povoski. She also leaves behind her brothers, Richard (Janet) Kakkuri, David (Jackie) Kakkuri, and Daniel (Mary) Kakkuri, along with many loving nieces and nephews. Ellen's life was a testament to the power of love, creativity, and friendship. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and in the many lives she touched throughout her journey. As we remember Ellen, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and countless precious moments. Private cremation has been entrusted to the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place on Saturday, July 27th at 10:30 a.m. at Baraga Cemetery in Baraga, Michigan. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
