Elsie W. Norback

Elsie W. Norback age 86 of Watton, MI passed away on Monday, November 24, 2003 at Alpena General Hospital in Alpena, MI.

She was born June 21, 1917 in Watton, daughter of the late Hjalmer and Hilda (Jokinen) Lepola. Elsie grew up in the Watton area and attended the local schools. She moved to Detroit, MI in 1936 and married Verner Norback on December 18, 1936. He passed away on October 14, 1995 at the age of 83.

Elsie worked as a machine operator for nine years. Was a graduate of the Citizen's Beauty School and was a hairdresser for 15 years. In 1971 she moved back to Watton when her husband retired. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Covington and the Women's League.

She is survived by a daughter, Gloria (Arthur) Wegner of Atlanta, MI; a son Gary (Gail) Norback of Northville, MI; six grandchildren, David (Melissa) Wegner, Karen (Michael) Strader, and Kathy (Brian) Voege, Leslie Norback, Julie Norback, and Brian (Candaladia Peepers) Norback; five great grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Claire, Ava, and Evan; several nieces, nephews, and cousins

Elsie is preceded in death by her parents, step father; Charles Gronval; husband Verner; grandson Michael Wegner; four sisters; two step sisters; one step brother; one brother and two great grandchildren.

Her funeral will be on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Covington. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church. Rev. Mark Reinsch will officiate. Burial will be in the Covington Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
