Elsie E. Virta

Elsie E. Virta, age 71, of Kingsford, MI, formerly of Bergland and Covington, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2001 at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
Elsie was born December 20, 1929 in Franklin, MI, daughter to the late Andrew and Impi (Salo) Seppi. She grew up in Watton and graduated from L'Anse High School, and Northern Michigan University majoring in Elementary Education. Elsie married Wayne Virta on July 5, 1952 in Ishpeming. Elsie taught in White Pine, Covington, and Bergland, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and knitting.
She is survived by her husband Wayne of Kingsford; two sons, Richard (Marilyn) Virta of Quinnesec, Raymond (Tina) Virta of Brooklyn, NY; a daughter, Sandra (Bert) Beals of Ironwood; one brother Russell Seppi of Anchorage, Ak; and five grandchildren, Diana Virta, Karen Virta, Olivia Virta, Bert Beals, and Adam Beals.
Elsie is preceded in death by two infant sisters Gertrude and Florence.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A memorial service will be held 6:30 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home. Celebrant Robert Fuse will officiate. Burial will be in the Covington Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
