Ernest S. Mytty

March 8, 1926 — October 10, 2003

Ernest Mytty, 77, resident of Aura, passed away Friday, October 10, 2003 at the Baraga County Memorial Hospital after a long fight with diabetes.

He was born in Aura on March 8, 1926. He is the last of thirteen children born to John and Hilda (Moilanen) Mytty.

Ernie married Anna May Kotter on July 17, 1954.

Ernie was a navy veteran having served in the Korean War.

He was employed for 40 years as a lineman with the Ontonogan REA.

Ernie served as secretary for the American Bowling Congress for 54 years, was secretary for the Baraga Bowling Association and also secretary for two leagues at the Whirl-I-Gig for over 50 years. He belonged to the VFW, American Legion, Aura Fire Dept., Baragaland Senior Center, Aura Lutheran Church and L'Anse Golf Association. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter, Ellen Heikkinen, both of L'Anse; grandsons, Scott, of Marquette, Jason, Corey and Joel of L'Anse; great-grandchildren, Brittney, Samantha, Dillion, Halley, Marie and Roger; and numerous nieces and nephews. Nine brothers, Arnie, Edward, Arthur, Carl, Augie, Bill, Wayne, Richard and Walt Mytty; and three sisters, Helen Mytty, Bea Collins and Edna Lehto preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2003 in the Jacobson Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Pastor Leon Linquist will be officiating. Interment will take place in the Aura Cemetery. Following the burial service a luncheon will be held in the Aura Fire Hall.
