Eva I. Santti

Eva I. Santti, age 75, of Pelkie, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at Bayside Village in L'Anse.

She was born April 27, 1926 in Pelkie, a daughter of Matt and Hilja (Lappala) Turunen. She graduated from Baraga High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Paul Santti on June 6, 1949 in Pelkie. Eva worked at the Pelkie Coop. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and crocheting. She was a member of the Grace Free Lutheran Church, and a volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul in L'Anse.

Surviving is her husband Paul of Pelkie; three sons, Clyde of Baraga, Irving (Patricia) and Steve (Wendy) both of Pelkie; three daughters, Paulette Laitila of Hancock, Cindy (John) Hoover of Alston, and Tammy Santti of Hancock; two brothers, Reuben (Evelyn) Turunen of Pelkie and Ralph (Nancy) Turunen of Arnheim; five sisters, Martha Maki of Alston, Sylvia Trondle of Trenton, MI, Ruth (Don) Bevier of Memphis, TN, Edith Moberg of Baraga, and Beatrice (William) Prewitt of Chico, CA; 13 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eva is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Eleanor Cruse, and Aili Santti; and a brother Reino Turunen.

Memorial may be made to the Grace Free Lutheran Church.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 7, at 11:00 a.m., at the Grace Free Lutheran Church in Pelkie. Rev. Dean Franz will officiate. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is in charge of arrangements.
