Evelyn Impie Strang

Evelyn I. Strange, age 97, of Portage Twp., MI passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born May 18, 1913 on the family farm, daughter of Gustof and Lisa Britta Johnson. At age 15 Evelyn moved to Detroit and married Matt Strang in 1932. She resided in Detroit until she was 74 years old when she moved back to the family farm.

Evelyn enjoyed reading and socializing with people.

Surviving are her sons, Sheldon Strang of Livonia, MI, Steven (Judith) Strang of Valley City, OH; three daughters, Kathleen Hudel of Detroit, Delores McClain of Detroit, Evelyn (Robert) Reinig of Orlando, FL; 26 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her husband Matt; son Stanley Strang; daughter Marilyn Nicholson; 7 brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 18th from 2-4:00 pm at the Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse and on Saturday, August 21st from 9-12:00 p.m. at the Charles Step Funeral Home in Redford Twp., MI. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, at 12:00 p.m. at the Charles Step Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Cadillac Memorial Cemetery in Westland, MI.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly, 527 Hancock St., Hancock, MI 49930.

The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse and the Charles Step Funeral Home in Redford Twp. is assisting the family.
