Fern M. Roy

Fern M. Roy, age 68 of L'Anse passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2001 at her home.
She was born March 14, 1933 in L'Anse, daughter of William and Florence (Johnson) Lundberg. She lived in L'Anse her entire life. Fern graduated from L'Anse High School in 1951. She married Clarence "Porky" Roy on September 11, 1971 in L'Anse. Fern worked for the L'Anse Sentinel for about 10 years, retiring in 1999.
She was a member of the United Lutheran Church and WELCA. Fern enjoyed traveling, reading, and watching Red Wing Hockey.
Fern is survived by two sons, Chad Roy of Negaunee, Steve Mettner of Ishpeming; three daughters, Linda (Dean) Witz of Skanee, Cindi (Pat) Jeske of Skanee, Becky Mettner of L'Anse; a sister Rhoda (Bob) Whaley of L'Anse; three grandchildren, Robert Witz, Brian Witz, and Amanda DuFour.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Clarence Roy on October 22, 2000.
The funeral service will be held on Monday Sept. 10, at 11:00 a.m. at United Lutheran Church in L'Anse. Visitation will be from 9-11:00 a.m., Monday, at the church. Rev. Margaret Grant will officiate. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her son Chad Roy, Son-in-laws Pat Jeske and Dean Witz, grandsons Bob and Brian Witz, and friends Brian Pennock and Mark Leaf.
