Florence Marie Smith, age 102 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Bayside Village in L’Anse.
She was born August 16, 1916 in Goodman, WI daughter of John and Catherine (Egnarski) Dudo. As a child Florence lived in Pulaski, WI and attended L’Anse High School, later she lived in Chicago for a while where married Kermit Stein and she worked as a waitress. In the mid-1940s they moved back to L’Anse where she made her home that she lived the rest of her life in. She did a lot for her family and will be remembered for that. Florence was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She was very generous to various catholic charities and world relief.
Surviving are her grandson Kirk (Margaret) Stein of Clayton, NC; great grandchildren, Ryan and Madison; sister Catherine Messinger of Zephyrhills, FL; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and step grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her son Louis Stein; step daughter, Marie Sikkila; brothers, Edward “Jack” Dudo, Stanley Dudo, Louis Dudo; sisters, Pauline Hutchins, Isabella Slagel, and Frances Mangrum.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 23rd at 1:00 p.m. in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. Deacon John Cadeau will officiate. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
