Francis J. Cadeau, age 79 of Baraga passed away on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003 at Bayside Village in L'Anse.
He was born July 21, 1923 in Baraga, son of the late Edward and Irene (Vizina) Cadeau. Frank was a WWII veteran, in the US Army from April 1943-January 1946. He married Rose Marie Tyosh on July 7, 1951 in Marquette. Frank lived in Round Lake, IL for 35 years. He worked construction for the Laborer's International Union of North America Local #118, retiring from there in 1988. They moved back to Baraga in 1998.
While in Round Lake, IL Frank was an usher in St. Joseph's Catholic Church for more than 20 years and a 4th Degree life-member of Knights of Columbus. He was also a past member of the VFW and American Legion.
He is survived by a son Dale Cadeau of Antioch, IL; five daughters, Judy (Paul) Abbott of L'Anse, Karen Andersen of Baraga, Twins Denise Cadeau of Marengo, IL and Debra (Charles) Zurek of Manitowoc, WI, Michelle (Danny) Hoggard of Crystal Lake, IL; brother Edward (Elsie) Cadeau of Alston; sisters, Rosella Cadeau of Baraga, Eileen (Wesley) Kemppainen of Alston, Ozien George of Dousman, WI; sister-in-law Ruth "Fern" Cadeau of Ironwood, MI; seventeen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Frank is preceded in death by his wife Rose on Dec. 1, 1999; daughter Anita Reames in 1976; and a brother Gabriel Cadeau.
The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 15, at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in L'Anse. Visitation will from 11:00 to 2:00 p.m., and the Knights of Columbus will conduct a service at 11:30 a.m. at the church. Fr. Greg Heikkala will officiate. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery in the spring. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
