George VanAlstine, 72, of Bitely, Michigan, died Saturday evening, November 11, 2006 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1934, in Lansing, MI, a son of Warren and Ethel (Brewer) VanAlstine.
George retired in 1979 as a forklift operator with the Dana Corporation in Lansing after 25 years of service. He was an avid hunter and a lifelong member of the NRA.
He is survived by a daughter, Tammy Adams of Onaway, MI; 4 sons, Robin Oja of Aura, Rick (Mary) VanAlstine of Pelkie, Rodney (Zoila) VanAlstine of Athens, AL and Ray (Becky) VanAlstine of Pelkie; a sister, Bethel Morris of Vermontville, MI; 2 brothers, Gail VanAlstine of Waterford, MI and Gerry VanAlstine of Onaway, MI; 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at 12:00 Noon in the Elo Cemetery. Rev. George Maki will be officiating. The Baraga County Veterans under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post will perform military honors.
The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
