Gerald Anthony Seratti

Gerald Anthony Seratti, age 67 of L'Anse passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 23, 2004 at Marquette General Hospital.

He was born April 4, 1936 in Baraga, MI son of the late Joseph "Jocko" and Eileen (Ross) Seratti. Jerry grew up in Baraga and graduated from Baraga High School in 1955. In high school he was a basketball player and worked at Jug Martin's Gas Station in Baraga. After high school he sailed on the Great Lakes ships for one year, and was in the National Guard for six years. Jerry married the former Alyce Almli on August 16, 1958 in Stambaugh, MI. He worked for MDOT for 35 years, retiring in 1989. He was also a driver for Kissels over the years.

He was well known for being historian of high school sports, and loved all sports and attended all the local games. Jerry was a die-hard Detroit Lions fan. He enjoyed driving his grand kids to hockey games.

Jerry was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, and Knights of Columbus, Third Degree Member.

He is survived by his wife Alyce of L'Anse; son Jerry Seratti Jr. of L'Anse; daughter Jeanine Ann (Rich) Ernest of Ontonagon; brothers, James (Shirley) Seratti of Waterford, MI, Larry (Lorraine) Seratti of Spread Eagle, WI; sisters, Kathy (Virgil) Kissel of L'Anse, Phyllis (John) LaBranche of Escanaba; grandchildren Jasma Seratti, Samantha Seratti, Alycia Seratti, Chelsea Harrison, Michael Seratti, Alex VanBuren, Justin Leftwich; father-in-law Paul "Tutta" Almli of L'Anse; brother-in-law, Biddle (Ruth) Almli of Aura; several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the church and on Sunday, January 25 from 4-8:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home, K of C will have a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. and parish prayers will be held at 7:30 p.m.. Fr. Greg Heikkala will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. Fellowship and a luncheon will follow the service at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
