Gladys Bell Narhi

January 20, 1915 — June 15, 2004

Gladys B. Narhi, age 89 of Pelkie passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at Ontonagon Long Term Care Facility in Ontonagon, MI where she has been a resident for the past 18 months.

Gladys was born January 20, 1915 in Minneapolis, MN daughter of the late Collin and Anna (Wetley) Campbell. She graduated from Eau Clare High School in Eau Clare WI and Franklin Blvd. Hospital Nursing School in Chicago. Gladys was a Registered Nurse, working in Chicago for 13 years. She married Arvid Narhi on January 26, 1946 in Chicago, then they moved to Pelkie where they farmed together on the Narhi family farm. She liked to bake and entertain guests and friends. She was a member of the Grace Free Lutheran Church, Alston VFW Post 7646 Auxiliary, and Copper Country Farm Bureau.

Surviving are her husband, Arvid; children, Sally (Ray Clark) Narhi of Pelkie, Terry Narhi of Menominee, WI, Rae Marie (Michael) Klobucher of Engadine, MI; three grandchildren, A.J. Narhi-Clark of Pelkie, JoAnn Marie and Michael Klobucher of Engadine.

Preceding her in death are her son Mickey Narhi, and brothers Raymond and Clarence Campbell.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 18 at 11:00 am at the Grace Free Lutheran Church in Pelkie. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6-8:00 pm at the Grace Free Lutheran Church and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Dean Franz will officiate. Burial will be in the Pelkie Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
