Glenda L. Theut, age 67 of Skanee, MI passed away peacefully on Friday, December 25, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at UP Health System in Marquette, MI. Glenda was born on December 10, 1948 in Hancock, MI to Wilho and Mildred (Wanhala) Wanhatalo. She graduated from John A. Doelle High School in Tapiola, MI with the class of 1966. On June 13, 1970, Glenda married David Tauriainen . They resided in Tapiola, Rock and Chassell. Glenda married Alvin Theut on December 28, 1992 in Pelkie, MI. Together they owned and operated the Keweenaw Berry Farm in Chassell where her warm smile and loving presence created many lifelong friendships. After selling the Berry Farm, Glenda and Al enjoyed their retirement at their home on Huron Bay in Skanee. Throughout her life Glenda was always a hard worker. She was employed by Ala Gas Company, Detroit & Northern Bank in Hancock and Escanaba, the Rock Credit Union, as a Mary Kay Cosmetics Consultant, and then The Keweenaw Berry Farm. Most recently she was a volunteer at the Bishop Baraga Shrine. Glenda was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Her strong faith gave her hope and reassurance for everlasting life. Glenda loved shopping, sewing, decorating, and crafting, but her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her loved ones. She touched the lives of so many with her friendly smile and heart of gold. Surviving are her husband Alvin Theut of Skanee; daughter Janelle (Daryl) Putala of Arnheim; Kimberly (Chuck) Morrison, Cynthia (John) Bailey, David (Denise) Theut, Julie (Bob) Whisnant, Mary Sue Prantera, Timothy (Beth) Theut, Jeffrey Theut, Christopher (Sandy) Theut; exchange student Ulf Olsson and family of Sweden; siblings, Ann Maki of Elo, Joyce (Dave) Hoskins of Elo, Curt (Roxane) Wanhatalo of L’Anse, and John (Tammy) Wanhatalo of Grand Rapids; numerous grandchildren, including Melissa and Jake Putala of Arnheim, along with several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Glenda was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, David. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 30th from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Her funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 31st at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. A luncheon and fellowship will follow in the church hall. There will be a spring burial in the Elo Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
