Glenn Walitalo, 48, of Arnheim, died early Tuesday morning at his home.
He was born December 1, 1956, in Hancock, Michigan, a son of Robert and Myra (Kinnunen) Walitalo. Glenn was a 1974 graduate of Baraga High School. On March 25, 1978 he married the former Susan Tapani in Baraga.
Glenn was employed for several years with the Ojibwa Casino and most recently held the position of supervisor in the slot department.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chassell. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at camp. Glenn also gave of his time as a foster parent.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Walitalo of Arnheim; children, Rachel (Rob) Bergeron of Arnheim, Kimberly Walitalo of Arnheim, Erin Walitalo and Luke Walitalo, both of L'Anse; parents, Robert and Myra Walitalo of Arnheim; grandchildren, Harley, Jeremiah, Robert and Brendon; grandmother, Sylvia Heikkinen of Arnheim; sister, Roberta (Ron) Tapani of Chassell; brother, Bruce (Wendy) Walitalo of Arnheim; mother and father-in-law, Allen and Betty Tapani of Chassell and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Lucas Robert Walitalo in February of 1982.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m in the Jacobson Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Friday at 11 a.m. in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chassell with Rev. Ted Koehl officiating. There will also be visitation on Friday for one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in the Keweenaw Bay Cemetery.
