Gloria H. Watters
June 28, 1910 — July 14, 2001
Gloria Watters, age 91, of L'Anse, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2001 at her childhood home surrounded by her family.
She was born June 28, 1910, in L'Anse, daughter to the late Octave and Georgianna (LeFebvre) Sicotte. Gloria graduated from L'Anse High School in 1928. She married John Watters on August 8, 1932, in L'Anse. She was an avid reader, and loved teaching her children to sing. Gloria was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and the Sacred Heart Charismatic Prayer Group.
Gloria is survived by one son, Joseph Watters of Minneapolis, MN; seven daughters, Jeanne (James) Westrom of Skanee, Joan Hill of L'Anse, Gloria Longman of Minneapolis, MN, Virginia (Larry) Menard of L'Anse, Mary (Earl) Tuttle of Watersmeet, MI, Suzanne (James) Tollefson of L'Anse, Bridget (Duke) LaBerge of L'Anse; thirty one grandchildren; thirty nine great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband John on August 30, 1979; brothers Leslie Percy Sicotte, and Octave Sicotte; sisters Hazel Oberlin, Doris Chapman, Marjorie Budreau, Josephine Sicotte, and Muriel Sicotte.
The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, July 21, at 11:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. The visitation will be on Friday from 6-9:00 p.m., with parish prayers recited at 8:30 p.m., at the Jacobson Funeral Home, and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Fr. Greg Heikkala will officiate. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is in charge of arrangements.
