Harriet V. Wagner, age 78 joined the other angels in heaven on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Baraga county Memorial Hospital

She was born in Ahmeek, MI on December 23, 1929 to Joseph and Mary (Kayfes) Zuvich.

She married Carl Hookana in 1947 and William Wagner in 1964. She and William owned and operated The Drift Inn in Copper City for 30 years.

Harriet is survived by six children, Margaret (John) Peschman of WI, John (Bettie) Hookana of Aura, Carol Ochowicz and Sandra (David) Van Wormer of Adell, WI, Katherine Hookana of Virginia, Mary Hookana of Aura, step son Bruce (Pat) Wagner of Gratiot, MI; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren; sisters Betty (Andy) Zanotti of Flint and Margaret (Laurence) Korby of Farmington Hills, MI; sister-in-law Mary Zuvich of Tamarack, MI; and best friends Geri and Pat..

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husbands; brother Joseph Zuvich; sister Ann Cole; son-in-law Larry Ochowicz and grandson Carl C. Hookana.

Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sachelarie and her staff and a debt of gratitude to Baraga Home Health and Hospice, Dr. Ingram and Nurse Mary, and to Pastor John Henry for all he has done.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 27th at 11:00 A.M. at the L'Anse United Methodist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Rev. John Henry will officiate. Graveside services will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet at 2:00 P.M. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
