Helene Bergland McGinty
March 31, 1912 — July 21, 2003
Helene Bergland McGinty, age 91 of Baraga passed from this life into life eternal on Monday, July 21 at Bayside Village in L'Anse.
She was born in Bergland, MI on March 31, 1912 a daughter of Olaf and Mary (Olson) Bergland. She attended the Bergland schools and graduated from there in 1930. She was united in marriage to Jack McGinty on March 12, 1932. They had celebrated 60 years of marriage on March 21, 1992 in Baraga. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack on January 4, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and five brothers.
She was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Baraga, the Baragaland Seniors Citizens, the Christian Women's prayer breakfast group. She was an active member of the Baraga Women's Civic Club.
She is survived by a son John (Corrine) McGinty of Lake City, MN; daughters, Patricia (Clark) Westman of Pequaming Rd., L'Anse, Mary Grace (Stanley) Friesen of Cincinnati, OH; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Anne Osborne of Ironwood, MI; three sisters-in-law, Millie Bergland of Rapid City, WI, Charity Bergland of Mason, MI, Irene Bergland Acord of Andover, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, and several cousins.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Baraga . Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Judy Mattson will officiate. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Baraga. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
