Helmi H. Franzen

Helmi Franzen, 91, of Pelkie, died Monday afternoon, February 27, 2006 at the Covington Rest Home where she had been a resident since 1997.
She was born February 1, 1915, in Coburntown, Michigan, a daughter of the late Eli and Johanna (Rumpeleinen) Turpeinen. Helmi spent many of her years living in Forida. On September 3, 1970 she married Walter Franzen in Tampa, Florida and he preceded her in death in 1994. She had also resided in Detroit, MI, returned to Pelkie, then moved to California for some time.
Helmi is survived by her daughter, Karen (James "Randy") Swanson of Baraga; grandchildren, Scott (Kim) Swanson of L'Anse and Colleen (Greg) Harris of Green Bay, WI; sisters, Aune Aho and Edith Dreelan, both of Pelkie; and 5 great-grandchildren.
There will be no services at this time. A graveside service will be held in the spring in the Pelkie Cemetery and will be announced by the Jacobson Funeral Home.
