Henry J. Storm, age 92 of Nisula, MI passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at his home.
He was born January 21, 1917 in Redridge, MI son of Henry and Anna (Adamson) Storm. Henry grew up in Nisula and attended school at the Motley and Nisula schools. He married the former Doris VanHala on November 11, 1950. Henry did farming, logging, and worked for Riipa's Saw Mill and Penegor Saw Mill as a mill wright, until he retired.
Henry enjoyed feeding the deer, having coffee with the neighbors, driving his 4-wheeler, entertaining his grandchildren and great grandchildren, wood work, telling stories, picking black berries, picking copper, peeling potatoes for Pasty's at the VFW, and hunting. He also enjoyed eating the first ripe tomato out of the garden, smelt and corn on the cob. Henry spent a lot of time reading National Geographic's, Outdoor Life and old books about tractors. He also made crosses for the Kitchee Cemetery north of Kenton.
He will be sadly missed. Surviving are his daughter Ellen (Michael) Karvonen of Nisula; granddaughters, Rachael R. Hocking of Ontonagon, MI, Kelly L. Karvonen of Nisula, MI, Stacy E. Karvonen of Hancock, MI; great granddaughters, Nicole Y. Hocking, Sara E. Hocking, and Jordyn A. Karvonen Clemo.
Preceded in death are his parents, wife Doris, and brother Leonard J. Westenberg.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24 from 5-7:00 pm at the Jacobson Funeral Home and from 10-11:00 am on Thursday, June 25th at Mission United Lutheran Church in Pelkie. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at the church. Rev. John Autio will officiate. Burial will be in the Nisula Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
