Hilda Torma
June 11, 1921 — August 15, 2009
Hilda Torma age 88 of Watton, MI passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.
She was born in Fort William, Ontario, Canada on June 11, 1921 daughter to the late Isack and Emma (Mantyniemi) Torma. Hilda moved to the United States at age 2 and was raised on the family farm in Watton, where she resided all her life. She had a happy childhood and a good life; after her loving parents past away her sister Bertha provided good care for Hilda for over 40 years.
Hilda loved her cat "kitty", enjoyed watching TV, looking at books and magazines, picking berries, and had a love for animals. She was always happy and smiling.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Covington.
Surviving are her sisters, Bertha Torma of Watton and Helen Johnson of Covington; five nieces, Barbara Nurmi of Watton, Lorraine (Duane) Anderson of Covington, Mary (Jeff) Gibson of Birnamwood, WI, Susan (Doug) Scott of Cornell, MI, Sharon (Wayne) Manz of Milwaukee, WI; several great and great great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents and a brother Paul Isack Torma.
Hilda's funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 18th at 11:00 am at the Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Rev. Mark Reinsch will officiate. Burial will be in the Covington Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
